What to Do with Your Gap Year or Year Out
The ‘gap’ between finishing school and heading off to college or university is a perfect opportunity to take some time out to travel. You’re young, free, and the world is your oyster. By traveling you’ll learn about new places, new cultures, and, ultimately, a great deal about yourself.
A good gap year is defined by a combination of factors: A good choice of destination with plenty of history and culture is obviously vital. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t mix it up by going somewhere utterly frivolous where you can party like a rock star, too…
The reason why so many people take a gap year is that it’s impossible to know when you’ll ever get that uninterrupted window of time again. So it’s vital you make the most of the experience, and take as much away from it as you can. We’re certainly not suggesting that, like one of your forebears of the Grand Tour, you return with the Elgin Marbles in your suitcase. What we will say is that it’s inevitable you’ll come back with something perhaps even more precious – a wealth of unforgettable experiences.
